About Rosie

Rosie van der Heiden is the founder of Snowy Mountain.

She supports mothers and birth workers in making sense of their lived experiences, reconnecting with embodied knowing, and cultivating deeper self-trust.

Her work draws on traditional postpartum care, birth story listening and integration, somatic practices, and a deep appreciation for the wisdom held within our stories and bodies.

She brings a perspective that bridges the practical and the poetic, the embodied and the symbolic, inviting conversations that move beyond conventional narratives of birth, motherhood, and personal transformation.

Conversation Topics

Birth & the stories we carry

  • Birth doesn't end at birth: the ongoing integration of our birth experiences.

  • Why making space for the birth story matters, even years later.

  • When birth unfolds differently than expected, and the stories we make of it.

  • The relationship between birth experiences, identity, and the parent-child relationship.

Motherhood & transformation

  • Matrescence: becoming a mother as an ongoing, multi-year process of transformation.

  • Mothering the mother: why postpartum care matters beyond the newborn period.

  • The identities we shed, discover, and integrate through motherhood.

Embodiment & self-trust

  • Learning to listen to the body without needing to fix or interpret everything.

  • The relationship between our lived experiences and our embodied knowing.

  • Moving beyond the idea that every difficult experience is something to recover from.

  • Making meaning of our experiences rather than simply moving on from them.

For birth workers

  • The importance of tending to the stories birth workers carry.

  • Holding space without taking ownership of someone else's experience.

  • The difference between witnessing, fixing, and facilitating integration.

These are invitations rather than prescribed topics. I'm equally interested in where a thoughtful conversation might lead, and open to other topics as well.

“There is a difference between understanding what happened and discovering what the experience holds for us.”
