Closing of the Bones
Closing of the Bones
A postpartum ritual of gathering, grounding, and return
Birth asks the body to open — not just physically, but emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. During pregnancy and birth, the pelvis widens, fascia softens, and the whole system becomes more fluid so life can be carried and born.
This openness doesn’t end when the baby is born.
Hormones, tissues, and fascia need weeks to months to reorganize.
In many traditional cultures, this time was protected with rest, warmth, and community care so the body could naturally “come back together.”
Today, most mothers move far too quickly out of the postpartum cocoon. Without the support that our physiology evolved for, the body often needs extra guidance to return to center — not because anything is wrong, but because our culture no longer holds mothers the way it once did.
Closing of the Bones is an ancient cross-cultural ritual that supports this process. Through gentle wrapping, witnessing, and containment, it helps:
guide the pelvis and fascia toward coherence
settle the nervous system
bring a sense of grounding after the intensity of birth
honour the mother’s transformation
It is not about fixing or correcting.
It is about gathering what expanded, and inviting the mother back into herself after crossing one of life’s most powerful thresholds.
A remembering.
A coming home.
What’s Included in Your Birth Integration & Closing of the Bones Session
Each session is a gentle, supported journey designed to help you integrate your birth experience and return to yourself after the expansive threshold of pregnancy and birth.
• Birth Story Listening
We begin with a conversation that helps you make sense of your birth in a grounded, empowering way.
My role is simply to hold a safe space, ask supportive questions, and guide you back to your own inner knowing.
This process is trauma-informed and does not involve cathartic retelling — it’s about clarity, integration, and ease in your body.
• Birth Energy Meditation
A short, guided visualization to reconnect you with the regenerative, life-giving energy that every birth carries, even when the journey was unexpected or challenging.
• Closing of the Bones with Reiki
A cross-cultural postpartum ritual using gentle wrapping and containment to support your body and energy after birth.
Rather than “fixing,” this practice invites the pelvis, fascia, and nervous system to feel held, gathered, and centered again — especially important in our modern culture where postpartum rest is often missing.
Many mothers describe this as deeply nurturing, grounding, and emotionally releasing, whether weeks or decades after giving birth.
• Community Holding (optional)
You’re welcome to invite trusted loved ones to participate in the ritual. Their presence adds a beautiful sense of being held by community.
• Nourishment
Tea, broth, and a nutrient-dense homemade snack are offered to support warmth, grounding, and integration.
